THE STORY CITY HERALD, Story City, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, June 6, 2007.

Ruth Marie Larson, 88, died at her home in Temecula, California on Sunday, July 30, 2006.

Ruth was born Aug. 13, 1916 in Roland. She was the youngest child of Peter and Carrie Peterson. Her great-grandparents, Jacob and Ellen Erickson (Aske) immigrated to Lisbon, Illinois in 1849 from Stavanger, Norway. Jacob Erickson (Aske) was a member of the second scouting party that traveled to Central Iowa in 1856. He bought 160 acres from the government and that land is the site upon which the greater part of Roland was built.

On Dec. 25, 1941, Ruth married Archie S. Larson, son of Swen and Annie Larson, whose families were also pioneer immigrants from Etne, Norway.

Shortly after Ruth and Archie were married, they moved to Clear Lake, where they took up residency. Mr. Larson owned and operated Larson's Appliance Store in that town until they moved to California in January 1958, where they lived the remainder of their lives.

Survivors include their four children, Lee of Delaware, Ohio; Julie Nazarian of Redondo Beach, California; Joan Blalock of Temecula, California; and Mark of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Jeffery, Marion and Walter, and two sisters, Marjorie Jacobson and Herma Omvig.

A memorial service will be held for her at Bergen Lutheran Church on June 16, 2007 at 10:30 a.m., where her children, nieces and nephews will be in attendance.
