Maxine Mae (Martin) Sackett, 74 of Nevada died on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 28 at Central Presbyterian Church with Pastor Scott Milsom officiating. Burial will follow the luncheon at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Maxine was born on April 27, 1933 in Nevada to Fred and Margaret (Chitty) Martin. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1951. On October 19, 1956, Maxine married Ronald H. Sackett at the Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada. She was employed at Donnelley's and retired from the National Veterinary Service Laboratory in Ames. Maxine was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church. Maxine was honored for 15 years of dedicated service on the Board of Directors for the River Valley Credit Union. She enjoyed painting and learning about the political process.

Maxine is survived by a daughter, Cynthia S. (James) Erickson of Bettendorf; 2 grandchildren, Molly Erickson and Michael Erickson.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ron on May 23, 1997, a daughter at birth in August of 1959, a sister Barbara Allen and a brother Louis Martin.

A memorial fund has been established in Maxine's name.
