Stanley Melbourne Wierson, 94, of Ames, died Thursday, Jan. 31, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at First Assembly of God Church in Ames. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, at Adams Funeral Home.
Stanley M. Wierson was born March 16, 1913, in Christytown, to Martin and Sarah Wierson. The family moved to Wright County where they farmed. He served in the infantry in the Pacific (the Philippines and New Guinea) from 1942 to1945.
He married Isabel Davis in 1948 at Little Brown Church in Nashua. They farmed near Ames from 1949 to 1996 and were active in First Assembly of God Church in Ames.
He is survived by four daughters, Ramona Wierson, of Ames, Lucille (Rob) Mumm, of Des Moines, Geraldine (Gary) Hendrickson, of Wayzata, Minn., and Kathleen (J.F.) Crouse, of White Oak; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Ben) Regenold, Jonathan (Jennifer) Mumm, Michael (Naphtali) Crouse, Jennifer Mumm, Ruth Crouse, Ashley Hendrickson and Rachel Crouse; six great-grandchildren, Jaron, Hunter, Jordan, Kaitlyn, Landon and Nora; two brothers, Archie and David; three sisters, Edith Swett, Vivian (Arnold) Moffitt and Sherri Morrison; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabel, in 1990, his parents, Martin and Sarah; two brothers, Ward and Eugene; and four sisters, Sylvia, Marie, Genevieve and Idellys.
Memorials may be given to First Assembly of God Missions Fund.
