James "Stoney" V. Clayberg (1938-2008)

THE STORY CITY HERALD, Story City, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, January 16, 2008.

James "Stoney" V. Clayberg, 69, of Story City, passed away Jan. 8, 2008 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will be at a later date in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday, Jan. 10, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City.

James Clayberg was born May 19, 1938 to Earl T. and Wanda (Wierson) Clayberg in Story City, Iowa. He graduated from Story City High School in 1956 and served his country in the United States Army, Army Reserves, and the Iowa Army National Guard. James married Barbara Pitman on Nov. 28, 1959. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Munsen Chevrolet employed James before owning and operating Stoney's Auto Service. Stoney was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, yard work, and all his grandchildren's activities.

James is survived by his wife Barbara Clayberg of Story City; one son, Kirt (Dawn) Clayberg of Ankeny; three daughters, Kim (Brad) Wyatt of Story City; Kia Chamberlin of Phoenix, Arizona, and Karla (Jamie) Concannon of Story City; one brother, Dave (Charlene) Clayberg of Marcus, Iowa; two sisters, Lois Christian of Story City, and Sandra (Jack) South of Phoenix, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Diane Clayberg of Story City; and eight grandchildren.

His parents; one brother, Russell "Butch" Clayberg; and one sister, Irene Goodmanson preceded James in death.

A memorial has been established in his name.

Soderstrum Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family with the arrangements,
