Clyde Erickson, age 80, a Laurel area resident, died early Friday, Sept. 16, 2005 in Columbia, South Carolina.
Funeral services were held Wedttesday, Sept. 21 at 1:30 p.m. at the Estel Perrin Avey Funeral Home with Pastor William Spencer officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with flag presentation by Frank Lewis Glick Post of the American Legion. Visitation was held Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 5 - 8 p.m. with family present from 6 - 8 pm.
Clyde Erickson was born Feb. 26, 1925 in Kelly, Iowa to Mr. and Mrs. Severt A. Erickson of St. Anthony. He attended school in Cambridge. A veteran of World War II he served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific until he was discharged in June of 1946. In March of 1948 he was united in marriage to Barbara G. Batesole at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. For much of their married life they resided near Laurel, where he was engaged in farming.
A loving brother, husband, and father, Mr. Erickson was preceded in death by his wife who passed away in July of 1977; brothers, Gurton, Oli, Milford, Kenny, Robert and Merrill and a sister, Lyda Klongland.
Surviving are three daughters, Deborah Osborne of Newton, Gaylene Milling of Ridgeway, South Carolina, and Lynn Konicek of Marshalltown; one son, Randall Erickson of Newton; three grandchildren, Wendy and Ryan Heckman of Atlanta, Georgia and Chad Williams of Marshalltown; two brothers, Harold Erickson of McCallsburg and Donald Erickson of Centerville; and two sisters, Helen Knoll of Pleasantville and Rosella Brooks of Kimberling City, Missouri.
