Thelmar J. Ford was born Aug. 4, 1906 in Story City to John and Julia (Egemo) Ford. He was baptized Sept. 16, 1906 at Immanuel Lutheran Church and was confirmed at North St. Petri Lutheran Church. He married Judith Stensland on Feb. 20, 1929 near Jewell. She died Feb. 5, 1996. Thelmar was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and had previously been a member at Elim Lutheran Church and St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Being a farmer, he truly loved his life style. He also loved being with his family. Family reunions and holidays were always so special to him. He liked puzzles, ranging from 2,000 piece jigsaw puzzles to brain teasers. He enjoyed coffee with the men below Randall-Story State Bank and truly enjoyed being around other people. His greatest loves were his family and farming.
Thelmar passed away Oct. 24, 2005 at Bethany Manor at the age of 99.
He is survived by five daughters, Beverly Skadburg and her husband Arnold of Burt, Iowa, Nadine Clausen and her husband Larry of Des Moines, Shirley Ross and her husband, Jon of Deerwood, Minnesota, Joyce Koestner and her husband Larry of Ogden, and Bonnie Butler and her husband Steve of Blairsburg; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sophie Amenson of Story City and Marjorie Tesdall of Huxley; and a brother, Berven Ford of Phoenix, Arizona.
Thelmar was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; an infant daughter; granddaughter Tammi; son-in-law Doug Schmidt; two brothers, Joseph and Jeffrey; and two sisters, Violet Olson and Stella Jorgenson.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City with burial following at Story City Municipal Cemetery.
