Wesley Meredith Olson was born Nov. 9, 1942 to parents Orien B. and Esther H. (Henderson) Olson in Ames, Iowa. Wes graduated from Randall High School in 1960 and married Marlys Rethman Feb. 10, 1962.

Wes was a blow molding supervisor in Rowland Heights, California before moving back to Iowa in May of 1993. He lived east of Randall on the "Olson Farm". He was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church and enjoyed reading, westerns, National Geographic, the L.A. Lakers, riding motorcycles, and his 1940 gray Chrysler. He especially loved his children and grandchildren.

Wesley passed away Oct. 25, 2005 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames at 62 years of age.

He is survived by two daughters, Dianne (Chris) Iannone of Tustin, California and Jolayne (Adrian) Silva of Darnstadt, Germany; two sons, Alan (Kathi) Olson of Travis Air Force Base, California and Jeffrey Olson of Yosemite, California; one brother, Daniel (Elaine) Olson of Story City; and five grandchildren, Weston, Lindsay, Olivia, Adrian, Jr., and Brandon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marlys on Feb. 11, 1990; and two brothers, Burdette and Ronald.

Memorial services were held at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 with burial following at Mamrelund Cemetery near Randall.
