Lester Matthew Ullestad (1928-2005)

Funeral services were held for Lester Matthew Ullestad, age 76, of Scottsdale, Arizona on Saturday, July 30, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe with Rev. Thomas Hunt officiating. Casket bearers included Mark Ullestad, Jeff Ullestad, Rod Ullestad, Paul Handsaker, Roger Handsaker and Dale Hinderaker. Burial was at the Radcliffe Cemetery in Radcliffe.

Lester Matthew Ullestad was born on September 16, 1928, at his parents' farm home in rural Radcliffe, Iowa. He was one of five children born to Jacob and Helena (Hodnefield) Ullestad.

He and his siblings received their education by attending Concord #3 country school and Radcliffe High School. Lester graduated from Waldorf College.

On June 12, 1948, Lester was united in marriage to Erma Mae Hinderaker, daughter of Joe and Ella Hinderaker. They were married at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. Lester ran his own accounting business in Ames for about twenty years. They spent several years living in Los Angeles, California and the last six years living in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Death came to Lester on Friday, July 22, 2005 at Hospice of Arizona in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife of fifty-seven years, Erma Ullestad, of Scottsdale, Arizona; his daughter Diane Mohr of San Diego, California; his son Brian and his wife Marcy of Georgetown, Texas; two grandsons Joshua Mohr of Mill Valley, California and Cody Ullestad of Georgetown, Texas; one sister, Hyllis Handsaker of Story City, Iowa; two brothers, Vernon Ullestad of Story City, Iowa and Argyl Ullestad of Rapid City, South Dakota; along with many other relatives and friends.

Les was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Janet Ullestad.
