Myrtle Leona (Branjord) Twedt was born Feb. 4, 1908 to Anna (Charleson) and Oluf M.C. Branjord on their farm home in Scott township near Randall, Iowa. She passed away at Bethany Manor Nursing Home on Oct. 31, 2007 at the age of 99 years. Services were held Saturday, Nov. 3 at Bethany Manor. Burial followed at the Roland Cemetery.

Myrtle was the second of seven children – Olive (Millard Jacobson), Donald, Vernon, Everett, Howard and Marvin Branjord. She started school with Olive in a country school near their farm home. She graduated from Randall High School in 1926. Myrtle was a member of North St. Petri Lutheran Church and was confirmed on October 8, 1922 by Rev. G. O. Paulsrud.

On Sept. 4, 1929 she was united in marriage to Harris J. Twedt to whom five children were born – Harris Jr. (Viola) of Story City, Herma Swenson (David) of Arlington, Tennessee, Jerry (Barbara) of Orlando, Florida, Paul (Sharon) of Huntington Beach, California and Linda Iverson (David) of LaVerne, Minnesota. They were all baptized in Bergen Lutheran Church at Roland where Myrtle taught Sunday School and was active in the ladies aid and Bible study. She spent many years as a housewife and homemaker in the Roland and Radcliffe area. In 1960, Harris and Myrtle had a farm sale and moved to Roland. She worked several years at the Veterinary Medical Research Lab in Ames. She has resided at Bethany Manor since 1999.

In addition to her three sons and two daughters, Myrtle is survived by 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister, brothers and great granddaughter, Ashley Swenson.
