Henry N. (Hank) Wallace, 81, died Monday, Dec. 3, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. After cremation, a memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at First Evangelical Free Church in Boone, officiated by Don Howard.
Henry N. (Hank) Wallace was born Nov. 16, 1926, the son of Henry L. and Sophia A. (Schroeder) Wallace. He attended Boone schools and graduated in 1944. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy following graduation and served his country for two years. He married Rosemary Parks June 20, 1948, at her parents' home. The marriage was blessed with four children. He was a member of First Evangelical Free Church.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie; three sons, Bill (Lisa), of Hastings, Mich., Steve (Carol), of Clarenden Hills, Ill., and Mike (Tammy), of Perry; one daughter, Mary (Jeff) Cowan, of Boone; eight grandchildren, Samantha, Molly, Jessica, Dan, Amy, Brian, Emily and Michael; one sister, Wanda (Mike) Lawson; one brother-in-law, Marion (Muriel) Parks; and one sister-in-law, Joice Wallace; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James A. Wallace; and one sister, Naomi Zuba.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Evangelical Free Church, Boone County Humane Society or Central Christian Church.
