THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, November 27, 2007.

Aug. 31, 1917-Nov. 25, 2007

Viola M. Johnson, 90, of Nevada, died Sunday, Nov. 25, at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg. Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Viola M. Johnson was born Aug. 31, 1917, in Nevada, the daughter of John Peter and Severie (Hausken) Larson. She graduated from Nevada High School. She married Dale Johnson March 14, 1942, in Princeton, Mo. He preceded her in death Nov. 2, 1997. She was a homemaker who loved her family dearly. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg where she had served on several committees.

She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Harlan Johnson, of Knoxville, Harold Johnson, of Ames, and Joel and Barbara Johnson, of Knoxville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Pearl Cooling, of Cedar Rapids, Mickey Cessna, of Cedar Falls, and Darlene McDaniel, of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; and two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Davis Johnson and Grace Pauline Johnson.

Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church and to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
