Mrs. Alice M. Newton, 86, of Rolling Green Village, Nevada, died Monday, Nov. 5 at the Rolling Green Village in Nevada.
Services were held Friday, Nov. 9, at the Collins United Methodist Church and burial at the Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.
Alice was born in Arlington Jan. 4, 1921 to the parents of Ralph and Maud (Bond) Beckner. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1938. She lived in Davis City before moving to Collins in 1954. She was most of all a wife, mother and grandmother, as well as a homemaker.
Alice was a member of the Collins United Methodist Church and a past member of the Collins order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the United Methodist Women at Collins and an active 4H leader.
Alice married J. Edward Newton on Nov. 2, 1942 in Bethany, Missouri.
She is survived by one son, Jim (Carol) Newton of rural Collins; two daughters, Mary Adams of Keizer, Oregon, Marie (Al) Van Roekel of Pella; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one to be born this week.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, J. Edward in 1970 and one sister, Leigh Sixta.
Visitation was held Thursday, Nov. 8 at the Collins United Methodist Church in Collins. Fredregill Funeral Home in Collins was in charge of arrangements. 641-487-7500
