TRI COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, November 15, 2007.

Richard D. Maxwell, 79, of 1205 Crossing Ct. NE. died Sat. Nov. 10, 2007 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha after an extended illness. Services were on Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Chaplain Joseph Kane officiated. Burial was at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery where there were also military rites.

Survivors include his wife, Norma, three daughters, Claudia Corona of Sacramento, California, Cathleen Ingersoll of Boston, Massachusetts, and Laura Maxwell of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Ryan, Sara, Kaitlyn, Nicholas, Danny and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.

Richard was born on Oct. 22, 1928 in Cambridge, the son of Peter and Nellie Barry Maxwell. He married Norma J. Rynor on June 23, 1951 in Des Moines. Richard attended M.I.T. and graduated from I.I.T. with a BA in tool engineering. He had 23 years of service at Amana Refrigeration, which included the position of Sr. Vice President and head of engineering. He later worked at Martin Industries, Kwik Way and retired from Crystal Tips as Sr. Vice President of Engineering. After retirement he worked part time for D.P.S for seven years. He held several patents in refrigeration and was a member Who's Who in America, Marion American Legion Post No. 298 and proudly served in the Navy during both WWII and the Korean War. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Mercy Hospice in Richard's name.

The family would like to thank Dr. Quinn, and the nurses and staff at the Hospice House of Mercy for the loving care given to Richard.
