AMES - Dennis E. Lange, 61, of Ames, died Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Dennis was born February 23, 1946 in Ames, Iowa, the son of Fred and Mildred (Moser) Lange. He graduated from Ames High School in 1964. After graduating, Dennis served in the Army Reserves. Dennis had worked as a cartographer for the Iowa Department of Transportation before retiring in 2001. After retiring, Dennis continued farming.

Dennis was a member of Amateur Trapshooting Association, the Iowa State Trap Shooting Association and the Farm Bureau. He loved farming, trapshooting, hunting, racing, playing cards and visiting with friends. He had a deep appreciation for Chevrolets, John Deeres and Vizsla hunting dogs. Dennis was a great uncle, loved by his nieces and nephew. He was known as the Caretaker of the Ames Bald Eagles.

He is survived by wife, Michelle Flynn of Ames; his mother, Mildred Lange of Ames; his sister and brother-in-law: Diane and Larry Schulte of Odebolt; 2 nieces: Kristin (Sherwin) Kuch, Tiffany (Darin) Mohr; and a nephew, Klint Schulte.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Fred Lange.

Funeral services were Monday, October 29, 2007 at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Burial was in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory of Nevada is handling arrangements.
