Helen Daggett Bloomfield, 86, of Clarksville, Tenn., and formerly of Ames, died Friday, Oct. 26, at the home of her daughter, after an extended illness. A memorial service was today at Madison Street United Methodist Church in Clarksville, Tenn.

Helen Daggett Bloomfield was born April 19, 1921, in Holmes, the daughter of Harry Arthur and Nora Jeanette Daggett. She was married in 1939 to Fay Oliver Bloomfield.

She was a member of Madison Street United Methodist Church and a former member of Ames First United Methodist Church, where for years, she and her husband served as sponsors of the youth fellowship. Her special interests included golf, duplicate bridge and her beloved Tuesday night bridge foursome of more than 40 years.

She will be remembered and loved as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Milam; her grandson, James Patrick Milam; and the most special people in her life, her great-grandchildren, James Rush Milam, Kolt Patrick Milam and Arie Lynn Milam. Other loving family members surviving her include her sister, Ruth Sheehan, of Clarion; sisters-in-law, Frances Hanson, of Clarion, Darlene Daggett, of Cedar Rapids, and Katie Wisler, of Kokomo, Ind.; brother and sister-in-law, Byron and Dorothy Bloomfield, of Lake San Marcos, Calif., and a host of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her friend and caregiver, Dorothy Sanders.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1999; her granddaughter, Virginia Helen (Lynn) Milam in 1988; and her son-in-law, Dr. James Milam in 1986.
