Paul "Bud" Fardal Jacobson, 78, of Story City, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will be in Story City Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Paul "Bud" Jacobson was born Nov. 29, 1928, in Story City, to Arvie S. and Nora (Fardal) Jacobson. He was a lieutenant colonel in the Air National Guard. He was baptized, confirmed and a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. He enjoyed playing cards and NASCAR racing.

He is survived by one sister, Donna (DeWayne) Kammin, of Story City; one brother, Allan (Mary) Jacobson, of Stuart, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Gloria Jacobson, of Iowa City; eight nephews and nieces, Richard Jacobson, Doug Jacobson, William Jacobson, Cathy Braathun Cindy Blomberg, Chad Kammin, Wade Jacobson and Jill Banack; and six great-nephews and nieces, Jessica Blomberg, Jake Blomberg, Jonathan Braathun, Amanda Jacobson, Anna Jacobson and Alex Banack.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard Jacobson; and one great-nephew.

Soderstrum Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
