NEVADA JOURNAL, Nevada, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, September 27, 2007.

Robert E. Rullestad, 74, died at his home on September 19, 2007. Graveside Services with Military Rites will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 24, 2007 at Resthaven Cemetery, 1720 Ashworth Road, West Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be Sunday, September 23, 2007 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd., Clive, Iowa.

Robert was born in Huxley, Iowa and had lived in Nevada, Ankeny and Des Moines until recently moving to Grimes, Iowa a short time ago. Bob served on active duty with the U.S. Army from April 1953 to April 1955. He later served in the Iowa Air National Guard. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 663 in Urbandale and served two terms as Post Commander. He worked for Tones Spices until his retirement. He was a past Boy Scout Master and member of the Toastmasters. While living in Nevada, he was an active member and held many offices of the Masonic Lodge #99. He was active in the Nevada Jaycees holding numerous offices including President of the local chapter. He later served as a Regional and State Vice President of the Iowa Jaycees. He also served on the Polk County Council of the American Legion.

He will be missed by his wife, JoAnn Rullestad of Des Moines; three sons, Steven (Diane) of Runnells, Iowa, Scott (Pam) of Clive, Iowa and Shelley of Cortez, CO; two brothers, Laverne (Linda) of Nevada and Richard (Bernadine) of Urbandale, Iowa; his sister, Marjorie (Arlin) Sheldahl of Huxley; six grandchildren, Kasey, Korey, Justin, Jill, Elizabeth and Thomas; mother, Agnes Rullestad of Huxley, Iowa; step-children, Larry (Donna) Bryant, Gary Bryant, Steve (Kim) Bryant, Deanna (Jeff) Gilbert and Gala McCreary; eleven step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Rullestad and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Rullestad; step-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post No. 663.
