Deloris Evon Silverthorn, 76, of Ames, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames with Pastor Fred Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Deloris Evon Silverthorn was born Dec. 26, 1930, in Cedar City, Utah, to Leslie and Clara (Odin) Davis. The family moved to Iowa in 1940. She attended schools in Lund, Utah, and Ogden, Iowa, and Boone. She married Claude Wesley Silverthorn Dec. 31, 1950, in Boone.

Over the years, she was employed by Bournes, Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames school system and 3M. She was devoted to her family. She enjoyed working outdoors, dancing and having fun with her sisters at the casino.

She is survived by one daughter, Deborah (Rich) Engelhardt, of Ames; three sons, Darrell Silverthorn, of Ames, Farrell Silverthorn, of Waunakee, Wis., and Randy Silverthorn, of Ames; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her mother, Clara Davis, of Story City; and three sisters, Elaine Jondall, of Ames, Collett Williams, of Ogden, and Jackie Ray, of Boone.

She was preceded in death by her father; her husband; two grandchildren; one brother, Merlin; and one sister, Beverley Coleman.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at Stevens Memorial Chapel.
