THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, September 4, 2007.

Aug. 24, 1928-Sept. 1, 2007

Virginia Carmack, 79, died Saturday, Sept. 1. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 3900 Ashworth Road, in West Des Moines. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marshalltown.

She was born Virginia Mae Thake on Aug. 24, 1928, in State Center, to Leland and Elsie Thake.

She is remembered by her two sisters, LaDonna Yoakum and Pauline Hintze, and one brother, Kenneth Thake. Her life will continue to be celebrated by her children and grandchildren, Linda and Patrick McCarthy, Carole and Chris Crall, Lori and John Mozena and Michael and Becky Carmack, Troy Baumann and Shannon McCarthy, Jeremy Stewart, Garrett and Katelyn Mozena, Erin Crall, Jordan Stewart and Kendall Carmack.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Barbara.

Her family and friends will miss her smile, her wit and her unwavering love for the Cubs and the Cyclones.

Visitation and prayer services will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at McLaren's Funeral Chapel, at 801 19th St., in West Des Moines.
