Feb. 26, 1947-Aug. 25, 2007

Diane Hovick, 60, of rural Boone, surrounded by her loving family and companion, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Aug. 25, at Boone County Hospital, due to cancer. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Cornerstone Alliance Church in Boone. Graveside services and burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Story City Cemetery.

Diane Hovick was born Feb. 26, 1947, in Boone, the daughter of Carl and Iona (Ferry) Franklin. She graduated from Boone High School in 1965 and attended DMACC Boone Campus and Iowa State University. She married Rodney Hovick June 14, 1968, in Boone. He died in October 1977. She married Jerry Chlopek in 1980, in Columbus, Neb. The couple later divorced. She also lived in Story City, Kelley, Ames, Columbus, Neb., and Trenton, Mo. She returned to Boone in 1984. She was employed with Gates Rubber Company in Boone for 12 years working as a quality control lab technician, retiring in 2005 due to health reasons. She also owned Shape-n-Sun Tanning Salon in Boone.

She is survived by two sons, Tracy Hovick and wife, Sonia, of Leadwood, Mo., and Joshua Chlopek and wife, Angelique Ernst, of Gilmer, Texas; three daughters, Stacie Murken, of Park Hills, Mo., Heather Phipps and husband, William, of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Brandie Lee and husband, Jeff, of Boone; her mother, Iona Franklin, of Boone; her companion of 11 years, Rennie Hunter, of Boone; one sister-in-law, Linda Franklin, of Jamesport, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and several aunts.

She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, Rodney; one brother, Donald Franklin; and one son-in-law, Norm Murken.

Friends may call from 2 until 9 p.m., with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m., today at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall streets in Boone. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at Cornerstone Alliance Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family to be used at its own discretion.
