THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, August 24, 2007.

Patrick R. McGovern, 44, of Ames, formerly of Center Township and North Sewickley Township, Pa., died Monday, Aug. 20, at his residence, unexpectedly. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church in Rochester Township, Pa. Burial will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery in Daugherty Township, Pa.

Patrick R. McGovern was born March 17, 1963, in East Liverpool, Ohio, to James J. III and Rosalie A. Parasida McGovern, of Columbiana, Ohio. He was a lead instructor for new hires with the Union Pacific Railroad in Boone.

He was a former member of St. Frances Cabrini Roman Catholic Church, Center Township, Pa., and was a member of U.T.U. Union, of Chicago.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Katelyn E. McGovern, and one son, Devin Patrick McGovern, both of Yorkville, Ill.; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Rhonda L. and Robert Gilchrist, of Chippewa Township, Pa., Renee A. Lechner, of Collinsville, Ill., Rosalyn M. and Richard Johnson, of Meadville, Pa., and Colleen J. Ursida, of White Township, Pa.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, James J. IV and Teresa McGovern, of Knoxville, Ill., Sean M. and Lucinda McGovern, of Green River, Wyo., and Matthew S. and Jennifer McGovern, of White Oaks, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James J. Jr. and Carrie E. McGovern; his maternal grandfather, George Parasida; and two uncles, Terry Laykish and Terrence F. McGovern.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, at William Murphy Funeral Home Inc., 349 Adams St., Rochester, Pa.

A Christian wake service will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
