Evelyn Uthe, age 94, of Williams, died on Friday, Aug. 19, 2005 at the Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls. Mass of the Resurrection was held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williams with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 - 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williams with the family present from 5 - 7 p.m. There was a 7:00 p.m. scripture service.
Evelyn Clara Baldus was born on April 28, 1911 in Story City, the daughter of John and Rosa (Leininger) Baldus. She attended Story County School. On Jan. 24, 1933 Evelyn was united in marriage with Fred Carl Uthe at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Gilbert, Iowa. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williams, St. Mary's Guild and ACCW, she also was a 4-H leader for 14 years.
Mrs. Uthe is survived by a daughter, Pauline Tibbs of Williams; a daughter-in-law, Wilma Kobliska of Dumont; twenty grandchildren, Steve Tibbs of Webster City, Ramona Kraft and her husband Greg of Goldfield, Lucy Riggins and her husband John of Des Moines, Dave Tibbs and his wife Carol of Summerville, SC, Jack Tibbs and his wife Lori of Cedar Rapids, Allen Tibbs and his wife Jackie of Alden, Linda Asmussen and her husband Patrick of Bondurant, Andy Tibbs and his wife Amy of Earlham, Luke Tibbs and his wife Lisa of Hampton, Janice Williams and her husband Tony of Rapid City, SD, Jeanette Lunstrum and her husband Terry of Castroville, TX, Mark Uthe of Dumont, Charlene Clark and her husband Mike of Clarksville, Chris Uthe and his wife Roni Sue of Dumont, Constance Wagner and her husband Rob of North Liberty, Rosanne Van Dyke and her husband Steve of Dumont, John Uthe and his wife Kathleen of Latimer, Joan Miller and her husband Paul of Sioux Falls, SD, Mary Leisinger and her husband Paul of Waverly, and Frank Uthe and his wife Marsha of Alden; twenty five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two step great-granddaughters; five step great great grandchildren; and two sisters, Rose Helland of Story City, and Catherine Davis of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son Francis Uthe; seven brothers; two sisters; three infant great grandchildren; one great-great step grandson.
