LaVina Hodnefield, 88, of Jewell, formerly of Radcliffe, died Monday, June 5, 2006 at Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City. Funeral services were held at 10:30 am. Saturday, June 10 at the Salem Lutheran Church in rural Radcliffe. Interment was in the Radcliffe Cemetery.

LaVina Jeanette Hodnefield, eldest daughter of Clarence and Judith (Hatteberg) Osmundson, was born southwest of Radcliffe on May 10, 1918.

On Dec. 18, 1935, she was united marriage to Harold Hodnefield at the Bethany Lutheran Church parsonage in McCallsburg. They lived and farmed in the Radcliffe area until Harold's death in 1986. The last several years she had resided in Jewell.

LaVina was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Radcliffe and a kind and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all. She was concerned for the souls of her loved ones and others.

Those remaining to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Carolyn McCosky and her husband Jason of Jewell; Barbara Ellwood and her husband Alvern of Radcliffe; one son, Robert Hodnefield of Milton Freewater, Oregon; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Aksland and Ruby Brinkmeyer, three step-sisters, Mavis Hatteberg, Hazel Pederson and Ruth Johnson; one stepbrother, Gerber Hatteberg; along with other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Harold Hodnefield.
