Doris B. Johnson, 95, of Story City and formerly of Roland, died Oct. 6, 2006 at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services will be Wednesday Oct. 11, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City. Burial will be in the Roland Cemetery.

Doris Johnson was born Dec. 29, 1910 near Roland, Iowa to S. 0. and Dena (Teig) Birkeland. Doris was a long time secretary at the Roland Schools and then Roland-Story Schools. Doris was a 1929 graduate of Roland High School. She married Clifford Johnson on Feb. 17, 1933. He died Jan. 22, 1965. She was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, especially basketball. She enjoyed reading newspapers and puzzles.

She is survived by two brothers, Ingvald Birkeland of Billings, Montana and Robert Birkeland (Mazel) of Roland; a sister, Donna Lachowicz of St. Petersburg, Florida; nine nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford; a sister Corene Larson and two grandnephews.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Bethany Manor. Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City in entrusted with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Bethany Manor.
