Emery D. Eggland passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2006 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. He was 82 years old. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 8, 200.6 at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial followed at the Roland Cemetery.
° Emery D. Eggland was born Jan. 3, 1924 to Albert I. and Isabelle (Boyd) Eggland in Roland. He was baptized and confirmed in the Salem Lutheran Church. He was a lifetime member of Salem and lived in Roland all his life. He graduated from Roland High School in 1942 and served as a radar mechanic in the United States Army during WWII.
Emery and Eleanor Miller were married April 16, 1949. He was a Hormel hog buyer for 32 years. Emery loved his family and enjoyed visiting with people. His hobbies included horses, bridge, and golf.
Emery is survived by his wife Eleanor, of Roland; a son, Alan and his wife Sara of Pella; a daughter, Peggy of Ames; a sister, Ruetta of Story City; two grandchildren, Carson and Gracie; and nieces, nephews, and many other special relatives and friends.
Emery was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Karene Kerman, Bessie Langland, Shirley LaPorte, and Ruth Eggland; and one brother Grant Eggland.
A memorial has been established in his name.
