THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, July 25, 2007.

Anna "Ann" Armstrong, of Ames died Friday, July 20, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at Brooks Funeral Care University Chapel, 7975 University Blvd., in Clive. Visitation will begin at noon, prior to the service.

She retired from Iowa State University and was a volunteer at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, until her move to Des Moines to live with her daughter in April of this year. She enjoyed taking care of her home and her yard but especially loved spending time with her family. She was lovingly referred to as Grandma and Aunt Tootsie by her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She will be missed by her daughter, Marsha (Mike) Szymczuk; her grandchildren, Sarah and Adam; her brother, Virgil Blau; and many other members of her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R.; her parents, John and Sophia Blau; and her brothers, Arnold and Walter.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mercy Hospice in Johnston and Mercy Home Care for the kindness and comfort given to Ann and her family.

Memorial contributions may be given to Mercy Hospice.
