THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, July 7, 2007.

Bruce Hart Thomson, 55, died Wednesday, July 4, after a long battle with cancer. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, Ind. A committal service will follow at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Iowa State University Cemetery in Ames.
Bruce Hart Thomson was born in Ames, attended Ames schools and graduated from Iowa State University in 1974. He resided in Indianapolis for the past 25 years and was an active member of Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church. He was an 18-year veteran camp counselor at Camp Pyoca for Presbyterian teenagers and a baritone singer in the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir. He worked for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources training and licensing well drillers. He was an avid reader and student of all things natural, especially geography and geology.
Bruce is survived by his mother, Dorothy H. Thomson, and stepfather, Jack Shelley, of Ames; brother, Raymond (Becky), nephew, Ben, and niece, Anne, of Roswell, Ga.; and brother, Craig (Roberta Moltzen), of Johnston.
He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Thomson, of Ames; and his sister-in-law, Betsy Still Ball, of Clive.
