TRI COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, June 7, 2007.

Donna Marie Smith-Frank, 64, of Canby, Minnesota, died Saturday, May 26, 2007 at her home in Canby.

Donna was born January 29, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin "Bob" and Doris (Stebbins) Canney. She graduated from Maxwell (Iowa) High School in 1960. Donna was united in marriage to Gary Smith on January 6, 1962 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Elkhart, Iowa. Together they lived in Minden, Nebraska for 5 years where they had Skodmo Clothing Store, and then lived in Janesville, Iowa for 8 years. They moved to Osage, Iowa where she worked as a school librarian for 13 years. Donna retired in 2003. Gary preceded Donna in death on September 25, 1996. Donna later married Jeffrey Frank of March 26, 2004 in San Juan, Texas. Donna was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Canby, Minnesota. She loved her grandchildren, reading and traveling.

Donna is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Frank of Canby, MN; 3 sons: Tim (Lisa) Smith of Cambridge, IA, Matthew (Heather Edwards) Smith of Osage, IA, Shawn (Suzanne) Smith of Cedar Falls, IA; a stepdaughter: Jodi Frank of Canby, MN; 7 grandchildren; 1 step granddaughter: her mother: Doris Canney of Maxwell, IA; a brother: Robert (Martha) Canney of Janesville, IA; and a sister: Char (Dave) McHone of Maxwell, IA.

Her father and her first husband, Gary, preceded Donna in death.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday a t St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elkhart, IA. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery south of Maxwell.

A rosary Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Visitation will follow the service and continue until 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Maxwell Area Community Center and to the American Cancer Society.

The Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is in charge of arrangements.
