Nancy H. (McAtee) Haas, 72, of Eldora, died Thursday, May 10, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services are pending with Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

Nancy Helen (McAtee) Haas, 72, of Eldora, died Thursday, May 10, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames after a struggle with lung cancer. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada with Pastor David Burling officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Nancy Helen (McAtee) Haas was born on Nov. 8, 1934, in Iowa City to Arlo and Bessie (Larson) McAtee. She was raised and attended school in Nevada. She married N. Kurt Haas on Dec. 11, 1950, in Marshalltown. To this union, two children were born, Amy Gray and Allen Haas. She received an L.P.N. degree in 1969 from Scott Community College in Davenport. In 1980, she obtained an R.N. degree from Iowa Valley Community College in Marshalltown. She spent her entire adult life as a care giver which gave her much joy. She was an avid reader, crossword puzzle solver and a great lover of cats and dogs.

She is survived by her husband, Kurt; one daughter, Amy (Brian) Gray; and one son, Allen (Rosanne) Haas, all of Eldora; three grandsons, Jeffrey, Austen, and Kurt C. Haas; four stepgrandchildren, Alexis Van Der Linden and Michaela, Zachary and Maliya Gray; three sisters, Veletta (Gene) Poush, of Nevada, Jeannie (Darrell) Starbuck, of Ames, and Judy Rasmussen, of Grand Island, Neb.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great and greatgreat-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Darrell D. McAtee; one sister, Beverly Boyd; two nephews, Dayton Starbuck and Terry Boyd; one niece, Diana Sage, and one great niece Tia Lynn Poush.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 15, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth St. in Nevada.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
