Wilhelmine L. Johnston, 97, of Ames, died April 21, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Wednesday. Burial will be at noon on Thursday April 26, at Davenport Memorial Gardens in Davenport.

Wilhelmine was born July 8, 1909, in Bettendorf to Leo C. and Augusta L. (Machirus) Pries. She moved to Ames in 1966. She also lived in the Quad Cities Area, Boulder, Colo., and Cheyenne, Wy. She graduated from Albert Gross High School in La Claire, then attended Coe College. She worked for J I Case, Iowana Farms Eagles Super Market and Esquire Publishing. She married Marvin H. Johnston on March 15, 1929, in Davenport, and he preceded her in death on June 2, 1988.

Wilhelmine is survived by two sons, Elvan "John" (Sandra) Johnston, of Ogden Utah, and Roland L. Johnston, of Ames; four grandchildren; five step grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Harold Johnston; four brothers, Alfred, Ervin, Ralph and Leo; one sister, Grace E. Smith; two grandsons, Timothy Johnston and James R. Johnston; and one great grandson, Nicholas Johnston.

Adams Funeral Home in Ames is in charge of arrangements.
