Erma Ryerson, 84, died Saturday, April 14, at the Madrid Home in Madrid. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cambridge, with the Rev. Marcia Kisner officiating. Burial will follow in the Cambridge Cemetery.
Erma Marguerite Ryerson was born March 2, 1923, in rural Cambridge to Oswald and Mary (Lee) Lewis. After graduating from Cambridge High School in 1940, Erma married Donald Eide Ryerson on March 2, 1942, in Cambridge. Together they farmed in the rural Cambridge area where Erma lived until she moved to Ballard Creek Community in Huxley in January 2006. For more than 60 years, she was an active member of Nazareth Lutheran Church serving as the organist.
Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie (Larry) Trede, of Ames; three sons, David (Marilyn) Ryerson, of Albuquerque, N.M.; Richard (Diane) Ryerson, of Pella; and Roger (Janet) Ryerson, of Danville, Calif.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and sisters Jean Egeland, of Maxwell, and Ruth Miller, of Ankeny.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her sister, Helen Ryerson.Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 16, at Stevens Memorial Chapel, Ames, with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Nazareth Lutheran Church.
