THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, April 14, 2007.
Lorella P. Maurer, 89, of Ames, died Friday, April 13, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, from injuries following a car accident Wednesday morning. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, Nevada. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Lorella Pauline Boller was born July 1, 1917, in Nevada to Walter Richard ("Dick") and Florence (Allen) Boller. Lorella attended school in Nevada where she remained a life-long sports fan. On January 1, 1937, she was united in marriage to C. W. "Bill" Maurer in Nevada. They moved to Ames where he practiced law for many years. She enjoyed driving and providing transportation for the Sisters of Mercy in Ames and was a great fan of Iowa State University women's basketball.
Survivors include her two children, Mary Anne (Steve) Maurer-Smith, of Park Rapids, Minn., Charles Maurer Jr., of Cambridge, Mass.; two sisters, Florence Jeanette ("June") Terrell, of Madrid, and Betty (Ralph) Lehman, of Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Allen, Max and Jack; and four sisters Grace, Gladys, Loretta and Phyllis.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, April 16, with a Christian vigil service at 7 p.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, Nevada.The Lorella P. Maurer Memorial Fund has been established to be used for ISU women's basketball and donations may be sent to First National Bank, 405 Fifth Street, Ames, IA, 50010.
