THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, April 11, 2007.

Lois M. Carver, 97, of Nevada, died Sunday, April 8, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at Nevada First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), with visitation from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Lois M. Carver was born Jan. 20, 1910, in Nevada, to William and Melvana (Holder) Farrington. She attended school in Nevada. She married Orlando "Frank" Carver Aug. 24, 1929, in Webster City. He preceded her in death in April 1955. She was employed as a cook at R.H. Donnelley for 19 years. She volunteered at Story County Hospital during her retirement years. She was a member of Nevada First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and enjoyed sewing and baking.

She is survived by her extended family, Ronald and Leanne Farrington, Haley and Logan, of Nevada; Ernest and Yvonne Freeman, Arlene Beaman, Maxine Gatewood and Duane and Beverly L'Hommedieu.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Guy, Virgil, Lowell, William "Lyle" and Ray Farrington; and two sisters, Iva L'Hommedieu and Thelma, in infancy.

Bacon Funeral Home of Nevada is in charge of arrangements.
