Mrs. Rachel M. Meade died of pneumonia at her home near Johnson's Grove, January 21, aged nearly seventy years, and her funeral service was conducted Friday by the Rev. Caldwell. Her husband, Mr. Asa B. Meade, passed away only two weeks before her. Mr. and Mrs. Mead were married January 6, 1852; came west and located at Johnston's Grove in 1868, and there have reared a family and earned confidence and regard. Their three sons - John, Asa and William - and their four daughters - Mrs. Alice Kuhu, Mrs. E. F. Bartlett, Mrs. Thorne, and Mrs. Tisdale attended the mother in her last hours, and have general sympathy in their double bereavement.
