September 6, 1946 - February 18, 2007

Pauline Rentschler, age 60, of Boone, died Sunday, February 18, 2007, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center. A Funeral Mass will be Friday, February 23, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone with Rev. Steve Brodersen officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Boone.

Pauline was born in Ames on September 6, 1946, the daughter of John and Ruth (Tesdall) Stark. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1964. On June 2, 1979, Pauline married Steve Rentschler in Boone. Since May of 1978, she had been employed by the Iowa State University Department of Public Safety. She presently was Dispatch Supervisor for the Iowa State University Department of Public Safety Police Division. Pauline was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Nevada and the Association of Public-Safety Communication Officials (APCO). Her hobbies included shopping, collecting Boyd's Bears, cooking, and watching game shows. She also enjoyed antiques, her family, and her grandchildren.

Pauline was preceded in death by her father, John P. Stark.

She is survived by her husband, Steve of Boone; a son, Steven Ray and wife, Lisa of Boone; a daughter, Michele Ray and her fiancé, Kevin Porter of Boone; her mother, Ruth Stark, of Boone; four grandchildren, Megan Payne, Miranda Richmann, Britney Hefler, and Brandon Hefler; a son-in-law, Tony Hefler (father of Britney and Brandon) of Boone; two brothers, Paul Stark and Terry Stark and wife, Anne, all of Nevada.

Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall in Boone on Thursday from noon until 9:00 p.m. where a Vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m. and the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Visitation continues Friday at the funeral chapel from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
