Nadine Geisler Jones, child of God, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother entered her heavenly home on February 9, 2007, at the age of 94. She passed away peacefully in the Memory Unit of the Eastern Star Home in Boone, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jones, her sister, Leta Parker of Escondito, California, and her brother, Junior Geisler of Ankeny, Iowa.
She is survived by sisters, Asta Blakely and Verda Homrig of Des Moines, and a brother, Milford Geisler of Shreveport, Louisiana, 4 children, Bertha Ann Swanson of Houston, Texas, George Jones of Maxwell, Iowa, Ginny Goeppinger of Boone, Iowa and John Jones of San Diego, California. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Tauri Phillips of Des Moines, Chad Jones of New York, New York, Cole Goeppinger of San Francisco, California, Justin Jones of Independence, Missouri, 4 great-grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren and many friends.
Nadine was born in Mingo, Iowa to Anna and Louis Geisler. The family moved to a farm near Steel, North Dakota where Nadine graduated from high school. Returning to Iowa, Nadine attended Simpson College and received an Associate Education degree. She taught school until she and the love of her life, William Jones, were married on December 25, 1938.
The first 25 years of marriage were spent on the family farm located south of Maxwell, Iowa, where Nadine's experiences ranged from helping with the field work to assisting in her husband's law office. Upon moving to Des Moines, she returned to the field of education earning Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Drake University. Her teaching career placed her in classrooms in Norwalk and West Des Moines.
She was a lady of many abilities, interests and accomplishments. She served as Worthy Matron of the Annie Laurie Eastern Star Chapter in Maxwell, taught Bible study classes and assisted with youth groups in the Loring Church.
Her greatest treasures were her strong faith and her family. She valued elegant simplicity, unaltered truth and loyalty. She loved farm life and making the family traditional Sunday dinners. She always had a great sense of humor and was a great lady.
Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home Chapel of Boone. Rev. Philip Webb officiated.
A committal service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, in the Loring Methodist Church near Maxwell, Iowa. Burial followed in the Mount Zion Cemetery, next to the church. Rev. Wilbur "Willy" Morfitt officiated.
Visitation was held on Tuesday evening, February, 13, 2007 at the Schroeder ~ Walter Funeral Home, Fifth & Story Streets in Boone from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present to receive friends at that time, visitation continued on Wednesday morning at the Eastern Star Masonic Home Chapel, from 9:00 a.m. to the time of service.
Schroeder ~ Walter Funeral Home, Fifth & Story Streets of Boone was in charge of the arrangements.
