THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, February 13, 2007.

Richard Lee Arrasmith, 77, of Savoy, Ill., died peacefully Sunday, Feb. 11, at home surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West in Savoy, with Sandi Hire officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Richard Lee Arrasmith was born Feb. 20, 1929, in Ames, the son of Claridon and Agatha Pearl Stull Arrasmith. He married Ruth Monroe March 25, 1951, in Ames.

Arrasmith was a printer at the Ames Daily Tribune from 1947-57. He was a printer and foreman of the Champaign-Urbana Courier from 1957-79. He worked at the University of Illinois Athletic Association at the Stadium from 1980-89. He managed several apartments and condos in Minneapolis area from 1989 to 2002. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950-52. He was a 35-year member of University Place Christian Church. He was a member of the American Legion and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. He loved family and friends. He loved being a printer and the people he worked with. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, gardening, following the Illini and playing cards with friends. He was a diligent employee and was a partner in his wife's Tupperware career for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; one son, John (Vickie) Arrasmith, of Champaign, Ill.; one daughter, Julie (Kyle) Matson, of Plymouth, Minn.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marge Adkins, of Falls Church, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jim, Robert and Herman; and one sister, Dorothy Edge.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Morgan Memorial Home.3et
