Feb. 15, 1909-Feb. 3, 2007

Henrietta Elizabeth Huhn, 97, of Nevada, died Saturday, Feb. 3, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Nevada First United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Henrietta Elizabeth Huhn was born Feb. 15, 1909, in Nevada, to William and Laura (Lough) Pincombe. She lived in Nevada her entire life and graduated from Nevada High School in 1927. She married Kenneth W. Huhn April 20, 1929, in Marshalltown. To this union, one daughter, Sue Ann Huhn Atkinson, was born. Henrietta worked alongside her husband on a farm in the Shipley community. They later owned the Goldcrest Dairy in Nevada. She was well known in the Story County farming community as executive director of the Story County ASCS office where she worked for more than 20 years. She had several honors bestowed upon her during her tenure with ASCS. She was chosen as one of the five top employees out of 15,000 in the United States. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Nevada, Chapter AM P.E.O., Soroptimist International and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

She is survived by one daughter, Sue Ann (Bill) Atkinson, of Nevada; grandchildren, Ann Elizabeth Atkinson (Daly) Greiman, James William (Paula) Atkinson, Mary Jane Atkinson (Jerry) Jones, and Danny Craig Atkinson; great-grandchildren, Dax and Dustin Atkinson, Laura Phillips, Jayme Harvey, Jennifer Greiman, Amy and Stacie Atkinson; and one great great-granddaughter, Kodi Henrietta Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Lois Ashby on July 10, 2006.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church in Nevada.
