Tena D. Mjoness died Friday, Feb. 2. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at United Methodist Church in Slater, with visitation beginning one hour before. Burial will be in Slater Municipal Cemetery immediately following the celebration of life.

Tena D. Mjoness was born Jan. 8, 1908, in Lyon County, the daughter of Daniel and Agnes (Buss) Meester. She was a retired cook at Gamma Phi Beta at Iowa State University. Always one to be busy, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing and craft projects. Her sweet smile and gentle ways will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by eight children, Kenneth (La Vonne) Vance, of Clarksville, Daniel (Florence) Vance, of Newton, Francis (Darlene) Vance, of Clarksville, Thomas (Edna) Vance, of Arizona, Betty (Wayne) Hamilton, of Ankeny, Jerry (Marilyn) Johnson, of Milaca, Minn., Nathan (Janice) Johnson, of Waverly, and Sally (Dale) Sawhill, of Ankeny; four stepchildren, Virgil Johnson, of Waverly, Kenneth (Donna) Johnson, of Waverly, Gilbert (June) Johnson, of Cedar Falls, and Esther (Don) Christensen, of California; one brother, Harold Meester, of Ankeny; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
