THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, January 30, 2007.

Pierce M. Jones, 92, of Colo, died Monday, Jan. 29, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Zearing. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Colo United Methodist Church in Colo. Burial will be in Colo Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Colo United Methodist Church in Colo.

Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing is in charge of arrangements.

Pierce Miles Jones, 92, of Colo, died Monday, Jan. 29, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Zearing. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Colo United Methodist Church in Colo. Burial will be in Colo Cemetery.

Pierce Miles Jones was born Feb. 17, 1914, in Randolph, Neb., to John O. and Mable Tucker Jones. He was the youngest of five boys, with three younger sisters. He was the survivor of his family. He attended country school and farmed with his father. He married Mabel Landanger June 12, 1937, in Pierce, Neb. They moved to Iowa in 1944. He farmed in Zearing, Colo and St. Anthony, retiring in the late 1970s, and moved back to Colo. He had a large garden that he shared with many. He was a member of Colo United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Sherry (Ron) Turner, of Nevada, and Julie Campbell (John Smith), of Boone; one son, Lanny (Shawn) Jones, of Joplin, Mont.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; three sisters; and his wife, Mabel, in 2000.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at Colo United Methodist Church in Colo.

Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing is in charge of arrangements.
