Donna Rae Danielson, 72, formerly of Nevada, died Monday, December 25, 2006 at the Heartwood House in Ames. Private burial services will be held in the Roland Cemetery. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 28 at the Memorial Lutheran Church with Pastor David R. Burling officiating.

Donna was born July 28, 1934 in Nevada to Ray and Vera (Eubank) Danielson. She graduated from Fernald High School in 1953. Following completion of her bachelor's degree in Applied Arts at Iowa State University in 1957, she was advertising manager at the Utica Clothing Company in Des Moines, Iowa for two years. She then returned to complete her master's degree from Iowa State University in 1961. From 1961 to 1964, she served as Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Returning in 1964, she served ISU and earned equal acclaim for her teaching excellence through her consecutive appointments in both Textiles and Clothing and Applied Arts departments until her retirement in 1991. Donna's teaching contributions to ISU will be recognized through the "Donna Rae Danielson Textiles and Clothing Conservation Laboratory" in Morrill Hall. She was also be remembered for her original Christmas card collection, which is now part of the ISU Museums collections. Donna was active is many university, community and church activities. She was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church. Donna was an avid reader and a Cub baseball and ISU basketball fan.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Sandra Sue. She is survived by numerous cousins, including her guardian Karen Jensen and husband Daniel of Ames. She will also be remembered by many friends, neighbors and colleagues.

The family received friends on Wednesday, December 27 at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.
