Loraine W. Cerwick, 88, of Ames, died Saturday, Dec. 23, at Arbor Springs in West Des Moines surrounded by her loved ones. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames. Burial will follow in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Loraine W. Cerwick was born Aug. 19, 1918, in Estherville, to Frederick and Mary M. (Mueller) Ehlers. She married Donald M. Cerwick Aug. 20, 1940. He died Nov. 1, 1983. She married Robert Arrasmith Aug. 6, 1989. He died Feb. 8, 2002.

She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church and Ames Woman's Club. She enjoyed her grandkids, bridge and going to Okoboji. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1941 as a registered nurse.

She is survived by her six children, Joel (Judy) Cerwick, of Overland Park, Kan., Mary (Bob) Dotson, of Algona, Fred (Mary) Cerwick, of Papillion, Neb., Don (Sharon) Cerwick, of Slater, Susan (David) Jarrett, of Camas, Wash., and Janel Cerwick, of Urbandale; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands, Don Cerwick and Robert Arrasmith.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames.

Memorials can be made to Memorial Lutheran Church or Alzheimer's research.

The family would like to thank the staff of Arbor Springs for providing their mother with many joyful moments and loving care. They also would like to thank Iowa Hospice for its attentive care to Loraine and her family.
