Donna R. Danielson, 72, of Nevada, died Monday, Dec. 25, at Heartwood House in Ames. Funeral services are pending with Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

Donna Rae Danielson, 72, formerly of Nevada, died Monday, Dec. 25, at Heartwood House in Ames. Private burial services will be in Roland Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at Memorial Lutheran Church with Pastor David R. Burling officiating.

Donna Rae Danielson was born July 28, 1934, in Nevada, to Ray and Vera (Eubank) Danielson. She graduated from Fernald High School in 1953. Following completion of her bachelor's degree in applied arts at Iowa State University in 1957, she was advertising manager at the Utica Clothing Company in Des Moines for two years. She then returned to complete a master's degree from Iowa State University in 1961. From 1961 to 1964, she served as assistant professor at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Returning in 1964, she served ISU and earned equal acclaim for her teaching excellence through her consecutive appointments in both textiles and clothing and applied arts departments until she retired in 1991. Her teaching contributions to ISU will be recognized through the "Donna Rae Danielson Textiles and Clothing Conservation Laboratory" in Morrill Hall. She also will be remembered for her original Christmas card collection, which is now part of the ISU Museums collections.

She was active in many university, community and church activities. She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church. She was an avid reader and a Cubs baseball and ISU basketball fan.

She is survived by numerous cousins, including her guardian, Karen Jensen and husband Daniel, of Ames. She also will be remembered by many friends, neighbors and colleagues.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Sandra Sue.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.
