Barbara Terry Seiser

Barbara Ellen Terry Seiser, of Ames, died Thursday, Dec. 14, of a heart attack. The family is gathering to remember her life Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Grandview Park Funeral Home in Des Moines.

Barbara Ellen Terry Seiser was born in 1928 in rural Hamilton County to Garland and Mary Hoag Terry. She completed high school in Radcliffe and attended Iowa State University majoring in textiles and clothing. She was married to Dale Seiser for 24 years. They raised their family in Ames where Dale practiced law. She later moved to Des Moines where she worked for the Iowa Department of Environmental Quality. She was a member of the Methodist Church, Sweet Adelines and DAR. She was a gifted seamstress and an avid quilter. She believed that "she with the most fabric wins."

She is survived by daughters, Anne Abbo, of Topeka, Kan., Rebecca Wilson, of Littleton, Colo., Meredith Seiser, of Beaverton, Ore., and Elizabeth Seiser, of Des Moines; sisters, Virginia Bird, Christine Wierson and Janet Hedberg, all of Des Moines; brother, Paul Terry, of Eden Prairie, Minn.; her former husband, M.D. Seiser, of West Des Moines; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and three grandsons.
