Maxine Elaine Haley

Maxine Elaine (Huntrods) Haley, 85, of Nevada, died Saturday, December 16, 2006 at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada, where she had been a resident since April 2005.

Maxine was born November 9, 1921 near Collins, Iowa, the daughter of Tom and Gertrude (Long) Huntrods. She attended school in Collins. She married Oliver Haley on December 8, 1937 in Arkansas. They later divorced. Maxine had worked as a bookkeeper for Continental Fertilizer, a cook at Story County Hospital, and for RH Donnelley's in Nevada and for Bourns in Ames. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Nevada, where she had also taught Sunday School, served as president of the CWF, and sang in the choir. Maxine loved music, playing cards and cooking for family and friends.

Maxine is survived by 2 sons: Oliver Junior Haley of Maxwell, Ron (Dianna) Haley of Nevada; 3 daughters: Janice (Bob) Hathaway of Nevada, Karen (Tom) Plunkett of Maxwell, Linda (Jerry) Cheek of Nevada; a son-in-law: Gary Clouser of Ames; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; 1 step great-great-grandchild; a sister: Wanda Carlson of Colo; and 2 sisters-in-law: Pearl Huntrods of Nevada and Myrtle Pointer of Collins.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Julie Clouser; 2 brothers: Vernon Huntrods, Vernon Huntrods; and a sister: Jessie Heffelfinger.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Nevada. Burial was in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery near Nevada.

Visitation was 7:00-8:30 p.m. Monday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.

Memorials may be made to her church.
