June 6, 1921-Dec. 11, 2006Harriet Lavon Olson, of Slater, died Monday, Dec. 11, at Boone County Hospital in Boone. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Slater Methodist Church. Private family burial of the cremains will be at a later date.
Harriett Lavon Olson was born June 6, 1921, in Slater, to Kermode and Erma Nelson. She married Cecil Olson and they had two children, Luana Sue and Donald Cec. She was a homemaker, living in Slater all her life. She was a member of the Slater Methodist Church women's group and Slater American Legion.
She is survived by one daughter, Luana Denton and her husband, Dennis, of rural Slater; their three children, Lafe Denton, of rural Slater, Brandon Denton, of Slater, and Sherri Yanders and her husband, Dylan, of Des Moines; one daughter-in-law, Barbra Olson, and her three daughters, Sheryl Miller and husband, James, Stephannie and Shawna; one sister, Dorothy Nelson and her husband, Arthur, of Slater; two half-brothers, James Nelson and wife, Nancy, of Des Moines, and Kenny Nelson and wife, Jan, of Slater; and one step-brother, Larry Long and wife, Bonnie, of Joplin, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil; and one son, Donald.
Memorials are requested to Slater Methodist Church or the Slater bike and walking trail.
