THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, December 9, 2006.

Mark Elliott Coffin, 43, of Madrid, died Dec. 7, in Ames. Visitation will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at the Farrar United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Slater Cemetery.

Mark was born Feb. 2, 1963, in Ames to Gale C. and L. Elaine (Elliott) Coffin. Mark attended Ballard High School and graduated in 1981. He then served five years in the Coast Guard and later graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in agronomy. Mark had been working at ISU. He was a member of the Slater United Methodist Church. Mark enjoyed gardening, fishing, ISU sports, refinishing furniture, his cat and his acreage near Luther.

Mark is survived by his mother and step-father, Elaine and Harry Kimberley, of Maxwell; a brother, Paul (Lori) Coffin, of Battle Ground, Wash.; three nieces, Stacey, Allie and Jennalyn; his grandmother, Virginia Coffin, of Kelley; a step-brother, Kevin Kimberley, of Maxwell; four step sisters: Rebecca (Terry) Holdridge, of Ankeny, Sherry Occhuizzo, of Chandler, Ariz., Cathy Kimberley and Kris Kimberley, both of Urbandale; and other friends and relatives.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Gale C. Coffin in 1985, and grandparents Lloyd Coffin, Leo and Ruby Elliott.

Memorials may be made to the Mark Coffin Memorial Fund.

The Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is in charge of arrangements.
