Mildred Clara Cheek

Mildred Clara Cheek, 87 of Nevada died on Friday, December 1, 2006 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 5 at the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ with Pastor Brice Hughes officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Nevada.

Mildred was born on October 31, 1919 in Cromwell, Iowa to Ralph and Effie (Kilgore) Bacon. She was a 1936 graduate of Tingley, Iowa High School. On February 29, 1939, Mildred married Roy Elvin Cheek in Abilene, Kansas. She and Roy lived in Creston from 1968-1988 and moved back to Nevada in 1989. Mildred was a member of the First Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and camping with her grandchildren.

Mildred is survived by 2 sons, Jerry (Linda) Cheek of Nevada and Dee (Sandra) Cheek of Ames; 5 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy on August 24, 1994, and a sister Helen Baker in 1966.

A memorial fund has been established in Mildred's name for the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada was entrusted with Mildred and her arrangements.
