Sept. 26, 1917-Nov. 27, 2006Arlene Mae Greiner, 89, of Story City, died Monday, Nov. 27, in Ames. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. Burial will be in Story City Cemetery.
Arlene Mae Greiner was born Sept. 26, 1917, near Ellsworth, to Earl and Mabel (Alvestad) Scott.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn D., of Story City; two sons, Lynn R. (Clarice), of Dallas Center, and Gary D. (Joan), of Ames; seven grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, with family present after 5 p.m., at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.
Memorials may be made to Bethesda Lutheran Church.

Arlene Mae Greiner was born Sept. 26, 1917, near Ellsworth, to Earl and Mabel (Alvestad) Gramby. She married Glenn D. Greiner Dec. 4, 1938, in Stanhope. She was an assistant treasurer at Iowa State University. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, where she was confirmed. She enjoyed traveling, her family and collecting cookbooks. She was a wonderful cook and baker and was especially known for her angel food cake. She and Glenn moved to Story City in 1995 from their farm near Jewell.
She is survived by her husband Glenn D., of Story City; two sons, Lynn R. (Clarice), of Dallas Center, and Gary D. (Joan), of Ames; seven grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Bennett, Carroll and Earl; and three sisters, Janet, Elsie and Arlene.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today, with family present after 5 p.m., at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.
Memorials may be made to Bethesda Lutheran Church.
