Miss Bertha Epperson, 91, of 617 Fifth Street, Ames, died at a nursing home there Saturday evening, Feb 21. She was born Oct 15, 1878 in Ellsworth, Ill. and had resided in the Ames area since 1890. She was a school teacher in the Ames area grade schools for many years, and was also formerly employed at the Gilchrist Grain and Coal Co. Miss Epperson, a member of the First Christian Church, was a former secretary there, and was also a member of the Golden Agers of Ames. Survivors include 3 sisters, Mrs Ted Heggen, Sr of Ames; Mrs Fae Worley of Bloomington, Ill., and Mrs Tom (Beulah) Corl of Boone, and 3 nieces and 3 nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb 24, at the Adams Funeral Home in Ames, at 3:30 a.m. with the Rev Roy C. Key, minister at the First Christian Church, in charge. Burial will be at the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
